2026 marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan. On 18 March 2026, H.E. Mr. Shehzad Ahmad Khan, Consul General of Pakistan in Shanghai, and his delegation paid a visit to UNIDO Shanghai ITPO. Xiaolei ZHAO, Head of UNIDO ITPO Shanghai, extended a warm welcome to the Consul General and his delegation. The two sides held an in-depth exchange of views on issues including China-Pakistan industrial cooperation, investment policies, and joint efforts to advance two-way investment and technological cooperation in the future.

During the talks, the Pakistani side systematically introduced Pakistan's investment incentive policies, with a focus on the analysis of policies for special economic zones and tax incentives, and mentioned that a large number of Chinese enterprises have already invested and operated in Pakistan. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on cooperation opportunities in such fields as renewable energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, home appliances and semiconductors. The Pakistani side expressed its welcome to Chinese enterprises to leverage the Pakistani market to radiate to South Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
The Consulate General of Pakistan in Shanghai introduced that in order to deepen the cooperation between China and Pakistan, Pakistan will successively host a series of industry-specific conferences focusing on home appliance energy storage, semiconductors and mobile phones starting from May this year. We look forward to jointly organizing, publicizing and promoting these conferences with ITPO Shanghai to continuously deepen the partnership. Each conference is expected to facilitate targeted matching between more than 100 Chinese and Pakistani enterprises, so as to further deepen the industrial chain synergy between the two countries.

Consul General Shehzad noted that UNIDO enjoys a high reputation in Pakistan. The Pakistani side will regularly share information on industrial investment conferences with UNIDO ITPO Shanghai after this talk and actively participate in the thematic promotion events hosted by UNIDO ITPO Shanghai. The two sides hope to establish closer working ties by relying on the framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the global network of UNIDO, and jointly push China-Pakistan industrial cooperation to a deeper level
