UNIDO Global Call 2022 China Session is Successfully Held During the 4th GIIC

UNIDO Global Call is UNIDO's annual flagship initiative in the context of the Response to Global Climate Change, Post-pandemic Economic Reconstruction and Green Recovery, and the Decade of Action for Sustainable Development Goals. Successfully held in Italy and Germany in 2020 and 2021 respectively, it has received more than 1,300 highly innovative solutions and scalable technology projects from more than 100 countries on 5 continents.

With the theme of "Global Call for Green Technology and Solutions towards Net-Zero", UNIDO Global Call 2022 is led by UNIDO ITPO Shanghai, co-organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Held for the first time in China, UNIDO Global Call 2022 calls for innovative technologies and solutions in 4 categories: Green Growth, Medical Health, Advanced Digital Production and Agriculture & Food. A series of themed events will also be held in 2022. Among them, 1st Campaign of Carbon-Neutral Technology & Solutions of #UNIDO Global Call 2022 China Session and the UNIDO Global Call 2022 “Green Growth)” was launched on June 5 "World Environment Day", which opened the prelude to the UNIDO global proposal solicitation series of activities; Advanced Digital Production China's technical reserve was launched at the Global Industrial Internet Conference (GIIC) held in Wuzhen, Zhejiang on July 28, and received positive responses.

H.E. Xie Zhenhua, China's special envoy for climate change, sent a video congratulatory message to the UNIDO Global Call 2022 series of activities. In his congratulatory message, he mentioned that the launch of the UNIDO global call for proposals is at the right time, which reflects the UNIDO's commitment to tackling global climate change, promoting a green recovery after the epidemic, determination and action of accelerating the realization of the ten-year action plan for sustainable development.

On the morning of July 28, 2022, the opening ceremony of the 2022 (4th) Global Industrial Internet Conference and Industrial Digital Transformation Annual Conference was successfully held in Zhejiang Province. Xiulian Gu, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the 10th National People's Congress and director of the China Cares for the Next Generation Working Committee, former honorary president of the China Federation of Industrial Economics, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. She pointed out that accelerating digital development is an inevitable requirement for industrial transformation and upgrading.

Yizhong Li, President of China Federation of Industrial Economics and former Director of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of People’s Republic of China, said that the industrial Internet industry is developing rapidly, but the total scale is not large enough, and it is in the growth stage, especially in terms of green development and green transformation, that various industrial enterprises still need to be strengthened.

Mr. Zhen Huang pointed out that this UNIDO Global Call 2022 carbon neutral technology/solution solicitation activity, with "green low carbon technology and carbon neutrality" as the main direction, not only provides good demonstrations and cases for sustainable development. It also promotes the awareness of ecological environmental protection in the whole society, shows the remarkable achievements of China's ecological civilization construction to the international community.

Ms. Xiaolei Zhao pointed out in her speech that Industrial manufacturing is one of the three main battlegrounds for carbon neutrality. The "Dual-Carbon Goals" drive the construction of new digital infrastructure. The Internet of Things + Industrial Internet + Blockchain connects online and offline data, and consolidates data. Industrial manufacturing is solidified by a trusted dual-carbon digital base.

At the opening ceremony of the conference, as the strategic partner of UNIDO Global Call 2022 China Session, the China Federation of Industrial Economics stated that the "2022 Industrial Internet Integration Innovation Application Industry Promotion Action Application Case Collection" would fully support the UNIDO Global Call 2022 industrial digitization field 10 excellent cases selected from 100 application cases to be shortlisted for China's technical reserves. Among them, the outstanding cases of Shanghai YOI Information Technology Co., Ltd. and Shanghai MS Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd. were successfully shortlisted in Top 10 cases of China's technical reserves.

The conference was co-hosted by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and co-organized by UNIDO ITPO Shanghai, the School of International and Public Affairs of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the School of Environmental Science and Engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, SJTU-UNIDO Joint Research Institute for Green Growth and the Carbon Neutral Development Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The purpose of this event is to accelerate the industrialization of green technology of enterprises by collecting green technology solutions in the carbon neutral field, and to jointly promote the process of sustainable development through multi-party alliances. The focus of this carbon neutral technical proposal solicitation covers energy carbon neutrality, industrial carbon neutrality and comprehensive carbon neutrality governance. The event went smoothly through a combination of online & offline and offline-based approaches. The purpose of this event is to accelerate the industrialization of green technology of enterprises by collecting green technology solutions in the carbon neutral field, and to jointly promote the process of sustainable development through multi-party alliances. The registration of high-quality enterprises reflects the contributions made by all sectors of society in promoting the realization of the "Dual-Carbon Goals" and sustainable development.

On the afternoon of the 28th, UNIDO Night - UNIDO Global Call 2022 1st Expert Consulting Meeting on Carbon-Neutral Technology was successfully held during the 4th Global Industrial Internet Conference 2022.
