The leaders of the Municipal Commission of Commerce met with the delegation led by Weixi Gong Chief of the UNIDO GLO/ITP Division

On January 17th, Zhu Yi, Deputy Director of the Municipal Commission of Commerce, met with Gong Weixi, Director of the ITP and Institutional Partnership Department of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, and his delegation.

Zhu Yi stated that Shanghai and UNIDO have a deep foundation of cooperation. Over the past 21 years, its Shanghai Investment Promotion Center (UNIDO SIPC) has actively implemented its objectives and created an international high-level exchange platform, playing an important role in promoting technology transfer and industrial cooperation, empowering local enterprises and industrial innovation. At present, Shanghai is striving to promote Chinese path to modernization and accelerate the construction of a modern socialist international metropolis with world influence. The Municipal Commission of Commerce will work together with UNIDO SIPC to promote the seventh phase of SIPC project cooperation as an opportunity to expand openness, optimize the environment, and drive innovation. It will continue to carry out deeper cooperation with UNIDO, especially the ITP and Institutional Partnership Division, and establish stronger cooperative ties. She also expressed the hope that the UNIDO Representative Office in China and UNIDO SIPC would continue to leverage their global network and resource advantages and jointly seek more cooperation opportunities with Shanghai.

Gong Weixi introduced the basic situation of UNIDO's resident network and related work in China and Shanghai, and stated that he would rely on three international platforms, namely, the ITP and the Global Programme Collection Initiative of the Institutional Partnership Division, consulting projects, and the Enterprise Acceleration Platform, to promote multilateral investment and assist the development of various types of enterprises in Shanghai, an export-oriented city with important functions of domestic and international dual cycle strategic links, under the new development pattern.

The two sides also conducted in-depth exchanges on topics such as SIPC project cooperation, higher level Sino African cooperation, and international investment promotion.
