ITPO Shanghai releases UNIDO Global Call 2022 Logo
SHANGHAI, 5 June 2022 - On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of World Environment Day on 5 June 2022, the logo of UNIDO Global Call 2022 initiated by UNIDO ITPO Shanghai was officially released!
UNIDO Global Call is UNIDO's annual flagship initiative in the context of the Response to Global Climate Change, Post-pandemic Economic Reconstruction and Green Recovery, and the Decade of Action for Sustainable Development Goals. Successfully held in Italy and Germany in 2020 and 2021 respectively, it received more than 1,300 highly innovative solutions and scalable technology projects from more than 100 countries on 5 continents. UNIDO Global Call has developed into an international-level science and technology call based on the United Nations platform, radiating five continents, focusing on innovative technologies and best practices.
Lasted for half a year, UNIDO Global Call will utilize technology as the engine to provide good examples for the sustainable development of various countries through:
1) By integrating global resources and building on UNIDO's global network relationships, identifying and promoting innovative green technologies and carbon-neutral development options to address the adverse effects of global climate change, and ultimately promoting inclusive and sustainable economic development guided by the Fourth Industrial Revolution Initiative;
2) Establish and strengthen a global network of technical exchanges to assist governments and enterprises in carrying out industrial cooperation and accelerate the process of socio-economic development and industrialization;
3) Carry out technical assistance through offline industrial investment platforms and online network platforms to help small and medium-sized enterprises solve technical problems, narrow the technology gap between enterprises, and accelerate the industrialization of green technologies for enterprises.
With the theme of "Global Call for Green Technology and Solutions towards Net-Zero", UNIDO Global Call 2022 will be held for the first time in China, led by UNIDO ITPO Shanghai, co-organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, UNIDO ITP Network and 48 representative offices, and other international agencies of the United Nations system will actively participate. It calls for iInnovative technologies and solutions in 4 categories: Green Growth (GG), Medicial & Health (MH), Advanced Digital Production (ADP) and Agriculture & Food (AF).
On World Environment Day 2020, the United Nations officially launched A Race to Net Zero, and since then, June 5 has become an important milestone for the United Nations to promote global environmental awareness, raise government awareness of environmental issues and take immediate action.
On the occasion of this year's World Environment Day, in order to promote the realization of China's Net Zero and Carbon Neutrality goal, as the co-organizer of UNIDO Global Call 2022, Shanghai Jiao Tong University focused on carbon-neutral technology application scenarios, launched the 1st Campaign of Carbon-Neutral Technology & Solutions of #UNIDO Global Call 2022 China Session, kicking off the prelude to the UNIDO Global Call 2022.
The first edition of Campaign of Carbon-Neutral Technology & Solutions of #UNIDO Global Call 2022 China Session focus on key strategic areas of carbon neutrality, for all emission sectors such as energy, industry, construction, transportation, agriculture, consumption and life, and will carry out project collection around the three technical fields of energy carbon neutrality, industrial carbon neutrality and carbon neutral comprehensive management, looking for innovative technologies and solutions that can be implemented and promoted. Academicians, authoritative scholars and industry experts form a jury group to guide and review the participating technologies, and the review work will be carried out according to the principles of strict confidentiality, professional authority, fairness and justice.
Besides the GG Category, ITPO Shanghai welcomes all sectors/parties interested in becoming strategic partners, industry partners, policy partners, innovation partners and business partners in the other three categories of UNIDO Global Call 2022 (ADP, MH and AF).
